Frequently Asked Questions.

Find answers to common questions about GP4H services, support, & how you can get involved.

Who can request support from Game Plan 4 Hope?

Game Plan 4 Hope supports individuals and families navigating a life‑changing injury, serious medical trauma, or advanced/terminal illness. While our primary service area includes Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and North Dakota, we may be able to assist or help connect families to resources outside this region on a case‑by‑case basis.

Is the durable medical equipment program really free?

Yes—100% free. Our durable medical equipment (DME) program exists to remove financial barriers during an already overwhelming time. We provide items such as wheelchairs, patient lifts, rolling shower chairs, walkers, and other accessibility equipment to help families safely transition home.

Our equipment program is relational, not transactional. Priority is given to individuals and families we are actively walking alongside through a life-changing injury, serious medical trauma, or advanced/terminal illness. Availability varies based on inventory.

How long can families keep borrowed medical equipment?

Equipment is typically loaned for as long as it is medically needed as part of a family’s ongoing journey. When equipment is no longer needed, we ask that items be returned so they can be cleaned, serviced, and shared with another family we are supporting.

How can I donate medical equipment or supplies?

We gratefully accept gently used, clean, and functional medical equipment. Donations help extend dignity, mobility, and independence to families facing medical hardship.

Please contact us to arrange a drop‑off or pickup, or visit our Donate Equipment page for current needs and guidelines.

What is a Hope Bag?

Hope Bags are a tangible reminder that families are not alone. Each bag is thoughtfully assembled with comfort items and practical necessities—such as snacks, hygiene products, journals, devotionals, and small gifts—to support families during hospital or rehabilitation stays.

Hope Bags are primarily assembled through a valued nonprofit partner, Live Inspired 365, who shares our heart for serving families with care and dignity. At times, Game Plan 4 Hope also assembles Hope Bags directly for specific families or situations.

Hope Bags can be requested for a family or sponsored in honor or memory of a loved one.

Can I volunteer with Game Plan 4 Hope?

Absolutely. Volunteers are the heart of our mission. Opportunities include:

  • Assembling and delivering Hope Bags

  • Transporting or repairing medical equipment

  • Assisting with events and outreach

  • Supporting prayer ministry, peer mentoring, or support groups

Do you offer emotional or spiritual support?

Yes. We believe in caring for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.

We offer:

  • Peer mentoring with others who understand medical trauma

  • Support group connections

  • Referrals to counseling and community resources

  • Optional prayer and spiritual support through our Prayer Ministry

All services are offered with compassion and respect for each family’s preferences.

Is prayer support required to receive help?

No. Prayer and spiritual support are always optional and provided only at the request of the family.

What if Game Plan 4 Hope cannot provide direct assistance?

If we are unable to meet a specific need—or if a request falls outside the relational scope of our programs—we will do our best to connect individuals with trusted community partners, nonprofits, or local resources who may be able to help.

For individuals seeking short-term or purely transactional equipment loans (such as post-surgical needs without ongoing support), we often refer to The Legacy Foundation – Owen’s Outfitters, a valued partner organization that operates a staffed medical equipment loan closet.

Do you provide transportation or ride services?

No. Game Plan 4 Hope does not provide transportation or ride services. In certain situations, we may offer temporary access to accessible equipment (such as vans) when available.

How is Game Plan 4 Hope funded?

Game Plan 4 Hope is funded entirely through the generosity of individual donors, businesses, churches, grants, and community partners. We are a nonprofit organization and do not receive government funding.
